
Rúben Dias
Type designer, researcher and teacher
Rúben Dias researches and writes about the historical portuguese type and typography developments having finished his PhD in Design at the University of Lisbon — Faculty of Architecture with the subject Eighteenth-century type in the Royal Printing Office: the design and development of an interpretive historical revival. Currently teaching at ESAD de Matosinhos during the last decade he have been lecturing type design and typography ESAD.CR, ESTAL, ETIC and is a regular lecturer at seminars conferences and workshops on type and typography, in Portugal and Abroad. Works as a graphic and typeface designer and is continuously expanding Tipografia Dias, his own letterpress workshop. Co-funder of Tipos das letras with whom he developed the RUHA stencil a tool to teach lettering and type design. He has founded, in 2003, the studio Item Zero.
