Jonathan Saldanha

Sonic and scenic constructor, working within the interception of sound, gesture, voice, stage and film. Studied sculpture at Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto and tabla – an Indian instrument of percussion – with the Hindu ensemble Jugalbandi. Saldanha is founder SOOPA collective, co-founder of Silorumor label and member of Fujako duo. He is also director of HHY & The Macumbas. Since 2010 has composed a series of experimental soundscape works, co-created the stage pieces BOCA MURALHA, SHARK, REI TRILOGY and directed the pieces JUNGLE MACHINE, KHORUS ANIMA, O POÇO and OXIDATION MACHINE presented in venues like Serralves Museum, Accès(s) Festival, Rivoli TMP and Palais de Tokyo. He has collaborated with artists such as Carlos Zíngaro, Steve Mackay, Adrian Sherwood, João Pais Filipe, Mark Stewart, among others, and, as musician, in the music festivals Sónar, Primavera Sound, Amplifest, Out.Fest, Circular, Milhões de Festa, Neopop, Tapettefest and Elevate.
